Bob Solger, Proprietor
The Energy Savings Store was founded in 2003 by Nickie and Bob Solger. Nickie serves as Corporate Vice President and Secretary.
Bob serves as President and General Manager. He is an founding board member of the Missouri Solar Energy Industry Association, and an active member of the US Green Building Council, the Heartland Renewable Energy Society, the American Solar Energy Society, the Better Business Bureau, and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. He is a board member of the Metropolitan Energy Center, which creates resource efficiency and environmental health in the Kansas City area.
Bob finds time to teach courses offered at The Energy Savings Store as well as The Evergreen Institute, The Center for Renewable Energy and Green Building between Kansas City and St. Louis. In 2007 Bob was honored as the "Healthy Planet Green Hero" by the Missouri Botanical Garden’s EarthWays Center and Healthy Planet magazine.
In 2009, he was awarded certification as a Solar/PV Installer by the Electrical Training Institute of Southern California, sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #11 and the L.A. County Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association.
Bob graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL and North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND with a B.S. in Mechanical and a M.S. in Industrial engineering, Bob spent eight years in the Air Force as an officer and an aviator. He later entered the computer industry, first as a project engineering/manager then transitioned into sales management on a national basis.
