A Partial List for the Kansas City Area
Mead Paper Factory Loft Apartments
The old Mead Paper factory, where “Big Chief” writing tablets were manufactured for decades, sat vacant in downtown St. Joseph, Missouri for years. Foutch Brothers Development converted the 500,000 square foot building into an eco-centric, high-tech, residential and retail space.
In the parking lot, solar photovoltaic (PV) panels are used to capture the energy from the sun and convert it to electricity.
The electricity is stored in batteries and used to light the
dusk-to-dawn parking lot lights. The Energy Savings Store installed a total of 21 solar pole lights. This “off-grid”
application saved the building developer a bundle, because
the fully-contained system required no trenching and underground wiring.
CFM Distributors
CFM Distributors, an employee-owned HVAC and refrigeration distribution company, recently completed a series of projects to “green up” their 7-story building and parking lot in Kansas
City’s historic West Bottoms area. The company’s green
projects included a parking lot that minimizes stormwater
runoff and is lit by a solar energy-powered security lighting system designed
and installed by The Energy Savings Store.
The security lighting system is powered by a 225W SEPCO
solar lighting system with a 224 amp battery pack. The 100×65′ lot is
lit by two 32W CFL power flood lamps mounted on the
wall of
the building overlooking the parking lot.
